One of the things that are a marker of depression is a messy/dirty house or apartment. Your depression makes you apathetic, the clutter makes you more depressed, it’s a vicious cycle.
Instead of feeling like you have to tackle EVERYTHING at once (insurmountable), make it your goal to clean one thing a day, and commit to keeping it clean.
You cleaned that nightstand, and then put a pen down on it? Pick it up and put it away. Start with the smallest things, like cleaning a window or windowsill, or a small table. Then slowly move up.
Once you get on a roll and you start feeling accomplished, you’ll likely end up cleaning more than one thing, and suddenly you’ll find yourself with the motivation to do the big cleaning jobs.
